CAIPSDCC, Collaborative Australia-Indonesia Program on Sustainable Development and Climate Change
The Collaborative Australia-Indonesia Program has been developed to reflect both countries’ commitments to engage in a strategic and mutually beneficial way, bringing together expertise and coordinating opportunities across the wider University with a focus on sustainable development and climate change. Collaborated with the Griffith Asia Institute, the Program will facilitate high level bilateral dialogues, multidisciplinary research collaborations, higher degree research support and student mobility opportunities with an emphasis on contributing to sustainable development in Indonesia and enhanced knowledge and capacity in responding to the challenges of climate change.
Over the next three years this Program aims to further develop and enhance Griffith’s engagement and institutional relationships in Indonesia and will contribute to positive Australia-Indonesia bilateral cooperation. Working in partnership with Indonesian institutions, the Program also aims to provide solutions to the challenges of sustainable development and climate change. Outcomes from the Program will include: Strengthened regional interdisciplinary research expertise and networks on sustainable development and climate change; An increased number of Griffith students from a range of disciplines undertaking mobility opportunities in Indonesia in the foundational themes of sustainable development and climate change, and vice versa; and Contribution to regional policy deliberations, with a particular focus on advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
This Program initiated in 2018 by the President Special Envoy for Climate Change Prof. Rachmat Witoelar, Griffith Asia Institute, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Hasanuddin on 2 November 2018 in Jakarta. The followed up meeting was conducted in Brisbane, Australia on March 2019 to deepen the climate action between both countries and the last meeting has been held on 20-23 August 2019 in Jakarta and Makassar to expand collaboration for other Indonesian researchers and ideas for each research themes. Started at November 2019, CAIPSDCC have an office in Lab Multidiscipline Pertamina FMIPA UI at 7th floor.
